If road racing is of interest to you there are lots of events to get involved in. See below Calendar of local events and also note the short overview.

NCRA : Northampton Cycle Racing Association
BMCR : British Masters Cycle Racing
BC : Britsh Cycling
NCRA is a long-standing Northamptonshire based association that brings together local clubs and teams to promote a series of races usually in the spring. The series are aimed at entry level road racing and the races are handicapped so all abilities are welcomed. In a handicap race in cycling, competitors start at different times based on their abilities, with slower riders starting first and faster riders starting later. The goal is for all riders to finish at the same time, theoretically creating an exciting finish where riders of varying abilities have an equal chance to win. It requires strategic pacing and calculation for both the slower riders to hold off the faster ones and for the faster riders to catch up. Enter these races via the BC website using the link below.
BMCR is an over 40's racing organisation. The Ron Day MK Bowl Circuit races, have been a staple of the British cycling scene since the 1980s. The Milton Keynes Bowl is a purpose-built cycling circuit located in Milton Keynes, England. The circuit is a closed-loop track, making it ideal for racing.
